Research
- Biomechanics of head and neck injury mechanisms (see Presentations and Publications web page)
with an emphasis on potential preventative interventions through the development and use of personal protective equipment
- Cadaveric Studies - SIRC has been, and continues to be, involved in cadaveric studies. These studies were conducted
at SIRC to determine the forces involved to injure/damage the human spinal column, lower extremities, ocular area
(including eyes) and the like.
- Eye protection - Unique impact scenarios such as evaluating a volley ball impacting into Beach Volley Ball sunglasses
to determine the potential for eye damage.
- Air Bags - Determine the potential effect on eyes when impacted by an expanding automotive air bag
